9 Apr 2015 ~ A champion trainer in India, he was a pioneer in Hong Kong racing and father of champion trainer Caspar, passed away at his Tai Po home this morning, aged 77. 方祿麟祖籍英國，印度出生，兒時與馬結緣，繼承父業成為練馬師，在印度取得逾650場頭馬。他於1981年來港開倉，在港22季取得637場勝仗，2003年因年屆65歲退休，兒子方嘉柏同年獲發練馬師牌照，承傳練馬事業。小方於06/07年馬季首嘗冠軍，小方累積頭馬數字於上月已超越父親，而且三度登上冠軍練馬師寶座，方祿麟因此亦感到欣慰。

A family statement issued read: “Beloved father, husband and friend to many, died peacefully surrounded by his loving devoted wife Pamela, his three children – Fenella, Stephanie and Caspar – and his grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. A true champion till the end.”

“He was my father, but also my mentor and my best friend,” Caspar Fownes said. 方祿麟於2014年發現患上末期淋巴癌，因年紀及身體承受不起，停止化療，一切順其自然。期間方祿麟依舊入場為方嘉柏打氣，表現出堅強一面。 方嘉柏上季尾在爭冠軍的關鍵時刻，更曾多次表示動力來自病重的父親，希望以冠軍獎盃敬慰老方，最終父子兩人齊齊踏上頒獎台捧盃。
